01 -
Combine warm milk, warm water, sugar, and instant dry yeast in a container. Stir thoroughly until evenly mixed.
02 -
Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix well, then knead by hand until the dough is no longer sticky and the surface feels smooth.
03 -
Cover the dough and allow it to rise in a warm place until it doubles in size, about 1 hour.
04 -
Divide the dough into six equal portions. Shape each into a round ball and cover with a plastic bag to rest.
05 -
Using a rolling pin, flatten each ball to a round disc approximately 7 inches (18 cm) in diameter and 0.2 inches (5 mm) thick.
06 -
Heat a thick-bottomed pan over medium heat on the stovetop.
07 -
Place a dough disc on the hot pan. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, then flip to the other side.
08 -
When the bread puffs up like a balloon, reduce heat to low. Cover the bread with a cloth to retain moisture while finishing cooking.
09 -
Brush the cooked bread with melted butter or olive oil and sprinkle with chopped parsley if desired.
